Welcome to the NEW BUMBLE BEANS BASICS WEBSITE!!!!

We are currently still updating the site, so, please check back soon for more information. You will be able to click the bubbles for each project’s information.

Currently we are only gathering Baby and Twin size quilts for the Child & Family Institute. Please click the project link for those details on the home page.

We have a NEW FORM that must be filled out, when you send in a quilt. The form will generate a ID NUMBER that you must include on the BOX.

Please include a printout of the receipt for yourself, and one to put INSIDE The box, so we know who the quilt has come from.

Your QUILTS MUST BE MAILED with delivery confirmation.

We are always looking for new projects where quilters can help.

Giving a quilt is like giving a HUG… So many of us can relate to needing a hug, once in a while.

Hi Friends!

Just a quick post to share with you some of the “Sandy” Folks who rcvd quilts today. We, (bumblebeansBASICS) have been delivering a few times a week, and I just want you all to know, just how much your quilts have been appreciated.

The fact that so many of you spent TIME to make BEAUTIFUL QUILTS to SHARE,

is just the Greatest & BEST THING EVER!

I am so touched by your generosity. It truly brings me to tears. You’ve made my Holidays the best ever! Every time I hand over a quilt and get a hug, I want to just jump up and down in joy! Well, I kind of do that anyway, and everyone laughs..

Do you know that we received 1,300 quilts in just three weeks? Amazing.

BASICS to help: ASAP

Super Storm Sandy and my area of the world.

Having missed the entire storm, by being in Houston for Market, I felt helpless as my family were in NYC without me. I started to organize a quilt drive for our area while I was still in Houston.

Once home, I realized how seriously the storm affected my neighborhood, my friends, and fellow New Yorkers, CT, PA and NJ… Homes have been wiped off the face of the earth, people are cold, and wet, and we have rain and snow coming. I need to be able to help NOW.

I just had a call from Raul Russi, Head of the Acacia Network, whom I had previously partnered with on my BUMBLEBEANS BASICS.com Quilt Drive for homeless families being taken out of shelters and put into transitional housing.

He said, “We have 150-200 quilts here, right now. And since the rest of my families are INSIDE already, can we deliver these quilts in our medical trucks to the people in the Rockaways, NOW?” I said, “YES! Let’s go!”

Once we have more quilts, we will continue to set up more distribution points around our area. Staten Island, Long Island, NJ, CT.

Quilts will be accepted, and handed out as quickly as they come in.

We made the news

Back in April we made the local news after our Second Distribution day.

About 100 of your gorgeous quilts were handed out that day.

Your names were read out loud, pictures were taken and tears were shed, (Happy tears!) and quite a lot of HUGS were being shared. I thank you so much for your generous donations!

Donated quilts to provide warmth for homeless families

(04/04/11) THE BRONX - Quilters from all over the U.S. and Canada are donating handmade blankets to a Bronx homeless shelter.

The quilts will be given to 50 families at one of BASICS/Promesa Systems’ residences for the homeless. The houses provide transitional support for the homeless, housing for low-income families and specialized treatment.

The families say the quilts are cheery and will be a welcome addition in their homes.

Sorry I am late!

I had to rush Daughter B to the Doctor late tonight….

when I got home, I just rcvd the sheet from BASICS!

All of your names are on the master sheet with the amount of quilts

in your donation package in order that they were rcvd/checked in at BASICS.

You rcvd one vote for each quilt you sent in…

So if you sent three quilts, you got three of your number, into the bowl…

91 people sent quilts.

Many sent one quilt,

many more people sent 3,4,5,6,7,

some even sent 15,20,25,30 per person!!!

You’ve warmed a lot of families and touched a lot of people’s lives

with your generous donations.

I made my husband draw the winning number so I could photograph it…

And all I can say is,

If I was this person,

I’d go play the lottery,

because she,

just won the sewing machine!

She won the last raffle too! See how lucky she is!

The Janome sewing machine is on it’s way to your door, NORECE!
